Buying a digital piano is a great investment for a beginner, intermediate, or even the advanced pianist. Digital pianos are usually priced in the mid-range, so they are an affordable investment for any piano enthusiast. However, choosing which digital piano to purchase can be a highly daunting task, especially since there are so many options, features, and prices to think about.
I've been a piano player for years, and I've played on my share of pianos and keyboards alike. In fact, I started out on just a cheap, 61-key Suzuki keyboard! Soon after however, I made my way into the world of digital pianos, and I've never looked back.
There are numerous brands that manufacture digital pianos, as you will find out by a quick google search or trip to the local music store. However, among these brands, there are only a few that really stand out, and are worth your money.
Most professional piano players take one of three stances on digital pianos: They love Yamaha, they love Roland, or they refuse to play on anything but an acoustic (these are the snooty players).
For me, I love Yamahas and Rolands. I would never ever buy any other brand than one of these two, and you shouldn't either or else you will waste your money. Yamaha and Roland dominate the digital piano market by far, with their impressive and realistic acoustic piano sounds, and the quality of their weighted keys. No other brand can compare.
I own a Yamaha digital piano (you can find out which one I like the best by clicking the link below) because Yamahas are more affordable than the Rolands. When comparing similar models, the Yamaha is almost always cheaper. Because of this, I believe Yamahas are the better choice overall for a beginning player. They are a top-notch digital piano, at an affordable price. You can't go wrong. |
