Its normal for someone to anticipate the future of a phenomenon they appreciate. Hip-hop has a history that can lead to an insight of the future of hip-hop. Hip hop has been there for the last four decades. It has gone through various levels of development. No doubt the impact of hip-hop has been enormous on societies world over. Some of the effects on the society have been considered positive and some considered negative.. Some of the negatives blamed on this culture include spreading of violence, misogyny racism e.t.c. However the culture can also be praised for inculcating creativity and the spirit of working hard for the art based young men and women. Some of the products of hip hop have been known to be among the worlds most influential; picture icons like 50 cent, p-diddy, tupac, Eminem, snoop doggy, R-kelly and many more. They are people who can manipulate a trend .However hip-hop has also had a share of resistance from some societies. It has been classified as Black African popular culture in some parts of the world which has a negative connotation. In the recent past, aspects of hip-hop have been debilitate a lot, for instance: popularity of mcing and djing has gone down tremendously in recent years. Graffiti is outlawed in many parts of the world and at one time the dressing associated with hip-hop adopted by hip-hop lovers was at one time a big debate in the US on whether it should be outlawed. More over the original hip-hop beat has been observed to be eroding to the rock beat. Is there hip hop future? |
