| New Delhi is the capital city of India. As it is a national capital of India, it has all legislative, judiciary and executive branches of the Government of India. New Delhi is located within the metropolis of Delhi and is one of the nine districts of Delhi Union Territory. The city has total area of 1500 km2. It is also considered as one of the fastest growing cities in the world and it has got total population around three hundred thousand residents. It is also the world’s topmost global cities. It is also one of cosmopolitan as different people from different origin resides there.
New Delhi is home town for several historic places, shopping markets, tourist places, museums etc. It has some historic places like India Gate, Qutub Minar, Rajghat, National museum etc.
India Gate: It is famous because it is the national monument and situation in the center of New Delhi. It has ceremonial of 90,000 Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives while fighting from Britishers in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War.
Qutub Minar: It is famous because it is constructed with red sandstone and marble, and is the tallest tower in India with a height of 237.8 ft (72.5 meters), and it contains about 379 stairs to reach the top.
Rajghat: It is the place where Mahatma Gandhi (also known as “father of our nation,” India) was cremated after his assassination and the ashes were buried and make it a final resting place beside the holy of the Yamuna River.
National Museum: It is one of the largest museums all over India. It was established in the year 1949 and has different types of articles ranging from pre-historic period to modern works of art. The museum has more than 200,000 works of art both of Indian and foreign origin, covering almost over 5,000 years.
New Delhi also has places like Jantar Mantar which is exceptional and definitely worth a look. It is also a very photogenic and quiet place in which it's nice to take a rest. There are also hundreds of things to see in New Delhi. You can also find thousands of extraordinary temples in India. There are other quite interesting traveling places also.
