2. Academic paper writing
Difference between writing in school and college
Writing in college is significantly different from writing in school. The basic difference in between two is that writing for college is coherent in nature. The writing in college includes detail understanding of the subject, analyzing power, to have a systematic approach towards the writing, aim to come up with arguable and interesting thesis. In a nutshell the style of writing is more focused, logical and rational in the of college.
During the time transformation from high-school student to college student most of the student face problem with respect to style of writing. Most of them try to apply the same writing strategy which they have used over the period of times. It becomes difficult for them to cope up with different style of writing which includes more dynamism. For example: a very famous five-paragraph theme is not acceptable in the college writing, the use of elevated language or stretching paragraph by repeating the sentences or words in order to fit the criteria of wring 20 pages will be miserable failed in case of college writing.
Now the question is that how the students will deal the problems. The student needs to understand the need to produce a specific type of writing in order to meet the criteria for college writing. This type of writing is named as “academic writing”. Though the style of academic writing can be varied from topic to topic, however there are three concepts which students should take into consideration before starting his/her first academic writing.
1. Academic writing is considered as the certain types of writing where the writing is done by one scholar in order to help other scholars. This statement can confuse the students. However the answer is in a college, students are considered as part of scholar’s community. It is expected from the college level student that they will read, argue and write about compositions and researches which have been done by other scholars over the periods of time. However it is a basic expectation from the students who are considered as scholars that they will maintain certain ways of writing. The college level education expects that student will be able to cope up with the new style of writing through their education, knowledge.
2. The main aim of Academic writing is to focus on developing topics and questions in order to satisfy the academic community. The appropriate and the relevant topic selection is the primary thing on which the scholar will focus on. The second step is to follow the instruction of the guide or professor. He/she will provide students a roadmap and a context in which students will be able to place their observations and questions. Academic writing is a specific type of writing which is more than personal response. The aim of the scholar is to write something useful for his readers. It can be said that the writing should be in a way so that reader can have the thorough understanding of the topic or can fine a new outlook from which will help to serve their purpose of reading.
3. Last and final point is that, with the help academic writing the readers should find well versed informed argument. To come up with the proper solution with respect to the chosen topic, primarily the writer should indentify what he/ she knows about the subject and what will be his analysis in order to achieve the desire result. If the academic paper does not include required information, lack in argument then there is a high possibility that this paper will not be accepted by the readers.
